The Cupertino City staff is focused on five primary initiatives of the Bike Plan 2016:
Design and roll out of the 7 Bike Boulevards
Walk-Bike Cupertino consider these proposed routes to be high-impact/return in making it safe and easy for our students to get to/from schools. The City is conducting several smaller, more focused public meetings within the bike boulevard neighborhoods and started in September 2017. The goal of these workshops is to gather comments and concerns from the residents living along or near the proposed bike boulevard routes. There are seven proposed routes in the city. Three outreach meetings will conclude Oct 10, with the balance slated to be scheduled before calendar year end. The city’s goal is to start roll-out of these boulevards in the Spring 2018.
East/West Class IV Bike Route from MVHS to Barnhart Ave;
Detailed engineering plans are in process to construct separated bike lanes on McClellan from Byrne Ave. to DeAnza Boulevard and should be completed in the Oct/Nov. timeframe. The entire route will go to Cupertino High School and on to Barnhart Ave. FMI:
280 Junipero Serra Trail
The contract to conduct the preliminary design of the proposed Junipero Serra trail was started in August of 2017. The trail is slated to run behind the 280 sound wall from the Don Burnett Bridge on Mary Ave. to DeAnza Blvd and on to Wolfe Road. Completion date of the preliminary design TBD.
